Tightening of lockdown rules

Dear parents and guardians,

I’m back! I certainly wasn’t expecting to return to school in these circumstances, but here we are in the midst of lockdown. I am very grateful to Kylie McCullah and Liz Worsley for their superb leadership over the past ten weeks, and also to every staff member for the preparations they have made to ensure we could begin online learning as smoothly as possible. It is not easy for any of us, so please make sure you contact one of us at school if there is any help we can give you.

As you know, from 11.59pm tonight restrictions are tightening significantly, with all employees required to work from home if they are able to do so. As such, we have made the difficult decision to close the school campus to everyone other than those who absolutely have to be here.  We will therefore have very few staff on site, and their primary role will be to supervise the students who cannot be supervised at home, which we envisage essentially being daughters of frontline/essential workers. Please note the arrangements for our HSC students remain the same.

I am so sorry we have to do this, but we must play our part in reducing the spread of this highly infectious Covid strain. Hopefully two weeks of stringent lockdown will  be enough to do so. If you wish to familiarise yourself with the new restrictions, you can do so at https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/restrictions-to-further-limit-spread-of-covid-19-delta-strain

Thank you so much for your goodwill and patience this past week; we appreciate very much the support you have shown to all of us as we begin the term.  As we know from recent past experience, we will get through this together.

We will keep you updated over the next two weeks with the specifics of lockdown requirements for us.  In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing cooperation – it really is lovely to be back.
